About this policy
Last updated: 22 September 2026

This policy explains how Resistance Release collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit resistance-release.com, book a session or work with me as a client.

Resistance Release is run by Jamie Terrington, a somatic trauma and fascial release therapist working online across the UK and in person around Bristol and North Somerset. I am the data controller for the personal information described here. You can contact me about anything in this policy at jamie@resistance-release.com.
How I use your information
What information I collect
• Contact and booking details: your name, email address, phone number and the details you give when you book a session, request a consultation or send me a message.
• Account details: if you create a member account on this site, your login details and profile information.
• Payment details: payments are processed securely by the site's payment provider. I see a record of the payment, but I never see or store your full card details.
• Health and wellbeing information: to work with you safely, I ask about your physical and emotional health, relevant history, and how you respond to sessions. I also keep brief session notes. This is sensitive information and I treat it with particular care.
• Website usage: basic technical information such as your device, browser and pages visited, collected through cookies only as described below.

Why I use your information, and the legal basis
• To arrange, deliver and follow up on sessions, and to take payment. This is necessary to provide the service you have asked for (contract).
• To keep you safe and give you appropriate care, using health information. I only collect and use this with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Withdrawing consent may mean I can no longer work with you safely.
• To reply to your enquiries and keep in touch about your bookings (contract and legitimate interests).
• To meet my legal, insurance and professional obligations, such as keeping financial records (legal obligation and legitimate interests).
• To run and improve this website, and to use non-essential cookies only where you agree (consent).
I do not sell your information, and I do not use it for advertising.

Who I share it with
I only share personal information where it is needed to run my practice:
• Wix, which hosts this website and provides the booking, members, payment and email tools I use.
• Usercentrics, which provides the cookie consent banner and records your cookie choices.
• The provider of the Google Reviews widget on this site, which loads publicly available reviews from its own servers. Your browser connects to those servers when a page with reviews loads.
• The video platform used for online sessions, where applicable.
• My professional advisers and insurers, or authorities, if the law requires it.
I will never share your health information with anyone else without your consent, except in the rare circumstances where the law requires it or there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else.
Some of these providers, including Wix, may process information outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.

Cookies
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept all cookies, deny non-essential cookies, or choose by category. Only essential cookies, which the website needs to work, load before you choose. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings button on the site. This site does not use advertising or social media tracking cookies.

How long I keep it
• Client records, including health information and session notes: typically seven years after our last session, in line with common professional and insurance guidance, and then securely deleted.
• Financial records: six years, as required for tax purposes.
• Enquiries from people who do not become clients: up to 12 months.
• Cookie choices: as long as your browser keeps them.

How I protect it
Your information is kept in password-protected systems with access limited to me. Session notes are kept confidential and are never shared on social media or used in a way that identifies you.
Your rights and complaints
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
• ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
• ask me to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
• ask me to delete your information, where I do not have to keep it
• ask me to restrict or stop using your information, or object to how I use it
• ask for your information in a portable format
• withdraw your consent at any time, where I rely on consent
To use any of these rights, email jamie@resistance-release.com. I will respond within one month.

Complaints
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please contact me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
