What is Fascia?
Resistance Release
Fascia is a continuous layer of connective tissue that wraps around muscle, bone, nerves, arteries and veins, as well as all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord.

Trauma, stress, injury, poor posture or lack of movement cause fascial guarding.
Â
Fascial layers lose their "glide" and physically bind together.
Â
Fascia is incredibly rich in nerve endings and acts as a massive sensory organ. Any restriction automatically fires off pain/threat signals to the brain neural guarding).
Â
Messages are sent to the surrounding muscles to tighten up and "splint" and protect the area.
Â
This prolonged neural muscle guarding reduces movement even further, causing the fascia to become even more dehydrated and restricted.

Movement & Pain
Why Healthy Fascia Matters
Fascia is the biological fabric that holds us together. It is a continuous web of connective tissue that creates a highly responsive communication network throughout your entire body.

Healthy fascia is fluid and allows you to move with ease. However, stress, trauma and repetitive strain cause it to become sticky and restricted. This fascial 'resistance' is often the hidden source of chronic pain, limited mobility and a dysregulated nervous system.

All of Resistance Release's therapies are designed to restore glide to your tissues. This alleviates physical pain and creates space for your nervous system to fully regulate and heal. Fascial maneuvers can be practised online by video across the UK, and hands-on myofascial release is offered in person around Bristol and North Somerset.
